First of all, let me say that this is the first piece of art that I have felt worthy of spending the time to write a critique.

With the first line, I felt like this poem was going to start hard and wind down. I was wrong. The imagery was beautiful, and you struck my by using things that everyone knows (the new Wendy's frosty). The allusions to paint tied it all together. The red colors to blood reminded me of the shades of paint that I use.

The way you ended sentences and started new ones struck me as well, although it might have been less confusing if you'd used a more classic way of doing. It makes you want to read the poem again so that you can get things that you've missed. You already want to read it again though, because of the way it hits you. I marked this poem high in the impact category because the second you start reading it, your heart begins to clench and it doesn't let go. You used beautiful metaphors and struck all of the right chords for me. You took a subject that's been heard over and over and presented it so well that it made me feel it like it was the very first time.

I'm sorry if this makes little sense: when I start talking, my thoughts rarely come in order, but I hope you got my meaning.
